Why Instagram Checkout will change the
platform for good

We’re super excited about the upcoming launch of Instagram Checkout in the UK. Following a successful pilot, Instagram’s e-commerce solution is promising to revolutionise the way we engage with and convert our followers on the platform.

One of the key aspects of the Checkout feature is Shopping from Creators.

What is Shop with Creators?

The new functionality enables users to shop their favourite brands through the channels of the Creators they choose to partner with. The feature allows creators and influencers to tag branded products in their own posts — creating an exciting new way for users to shop within the platform.

Instagram has been progressively rolling out the feature with different businesses in the United States, with influencers including Kim Kardashian West, Jen Atkin, and Aimee Song all utilising Shopping from Creators since its inception.

Shop with Creators gives influencers the ability to create their own ‘shoppable’ Instagram posts to promote products from the brands they partner with. Followers can then tap ‘view products’ and purchase the tagged products directly using Instagram Checkout without ever leaving the app.

What does Instagram stand to gain from the move?

Instagram has now achieved what no other social network or giant online retailer, Amazon included, has done before: build a large-scale business inside a mobile app based on the ideology of discovery shopping.

Instagram’s potential advantage over Amazon lies in its influencer culture. Building on its e-commerce function allows the company to capitalise on that culture without needing to fundamentally interrupt or change its current users’ habits. Its growth potential is huge.

Is Shop with Creators a good thing?

Instagram for Creators is a dream come true for brands looking to drive more sales from social media. Crucially, creators can access a range of metrics relating to the post in question to monitor how well it is performing.

This is super insightful and illustrates to content creators what drives engagement and sales.

The fact that Shopping from Creators is integrated with Instagram Checkout means that influencers and brands now have the opportunity to convert followers into clients without either party ever leaving the app.

Although we’re still waiting for the launch of Shopping with Creators in the UK and AU, there’s no doubt that this unique way of selling can boost your brand.

Be sure to keep up with the latest from Instagram and follow the steps leading to the much-anticipated release of Shop with Creators outside of the US. It could just be the tool you need to crank things up a notch on your socials.
